The Emakoko

Built into the Mbagathi River gorge on the northern boundary of Nairobi National Park, with private park access

Overview

The Emakoko is the luxury option on Nairobi National Park — a boutique lodge carved into the side of the Mbagathi River gorge, with suites stepping down the hillside and a main deck looking over the water and the bush beyond.

There are ten safari suites: five Cliff Suites set against the rock face with long views, and five River Suites closer to the main lodge and the water. The Private House, an exclusive-use villa with two en-suite bedrooms, a shared living area and its own pool, sits in an elevated, secluded position and suits families or friends travelling together.

Guests reach the lodge through the gorge, which sets the tone immediately — you are inside the park's world rather than on its edge, despite being about 45 minutes from Nairobi's major airports. That makes it a natural alternative to a city hotel at the start or end of a Kenyan trip.

Two private game drives run each day, with excursions to the Giraffe Centre and the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust when time allows, and quieter days by the pool or with an in-room massage.

Nairobi National Park is reached in around 20 to 40 minutes from Nairobi city centre, Wilson Airport or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), making it one of the quickest safari transfers anywhere in Kenya.
